Buildings insurer
PAS 8700:2025, Modern methods of construction for new build residential properties – Specification, Draft v 3.9, published by bsi in 2024, defines a buildings insurer as a: ‘business providing or arranging an annual insurance policy which protects the building against losses caused by defined perils. NOTE 1 Examples of perils include fire, storm and flood. NOTE 2 There are principally three different types of business in this definition: insurance companies; managing general agents; and insurance brokers. There are also many different types of insurance policy, varying in cover, geographical jurisdiction, regulatory context and financial security ratings. It is important to ascertain if the cover offered meets the requirements of the project.’
